WHIMSICALITY -- A SUMMER THEATRE FOR YOUNG ACTORS
Devin Brown who is a theatre major at NVCC, director of last years summer & winter theatre musical will be the Director of this production. A theatre for young actors will stage “Annie” in June. EARTH DAY TOWN-WIDE CLEAN UP

It feels an awful lot like spring and the Watertown Recreation and Public Works Departments are taking advantage of the wonderful weather by sponsoring a town-wide spring clean-up. Local community organizations, town merchants, and residents will meet at the Watertown Recreation parking lot, 51 Depot Street, at 8:00 am to obtain garbage bags, a free t-shirt and finalize assignment areas. Participants will begin a spring face lift for their community by collecting papers and garbage along main roads, parks, cemeteries, and schools. The town encourages residents to take advantage of this opportunity in an effort to make Watertown an even more attractive community.
Anyone interested in participating in this worthwhile community event should meet their fellow Watertown residents at the Watertown Recreation parking lot at 8 am on Saturday, April 26. 2008. MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

The annual Memorial Day parade will start at the Watertown Plaza parking lot and proceed on Rt. 63 S, to the Oakville Green. A ceremony to be held at the Green. The parade will begin at 10:00 am. If any group or organization is interested in marching in the parade you can pick up a form at the Watertown Recreation Department or if you have any further questions please contact the Watertown Recreation Department at 945-5246.
DARE DAY

This annual program is sponsored by the Recreation Department & the Police Departments D.A.R.E program. Come join us on Saturday, June 7, 2008 (Rain date: June 8) from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. It is for the kids involved in the Dare program and their families. Come enjoy a day at the park, outdoor activities, food, prizes, dare vehicles from other towns, and much more! TOWN-WIDE TAG SALE (YARD SALE)

FROM 8:00 A.M. TO 1:00 P.M.
Sales will occur in front yards, garages and on sidewalks throughout the town. A uniquely Watertown/Oakville event involving citizens, businesses, churches, civic groups, associations, Town leaders, neighbors and visitors building community and identity.
Yard sales are a regular occurrence any weekend throughout the State. Several organizations hold annual fundraising rummage and book sales that have become anticipated events. Town-wide tag sales have long been a tradition in New England and in many Connecticut communities as well. The intent is that while cleaning out in the Spring everyone not toss everything but instead offer an opportunity to turn trash into treasure. All this to help build community through a shared experience and other celebrations one weekend in the Spring.

COW CHIP RAFFLE
Watertown Lions Club, Inc will be sponsoring a Cow Chip Raffle on April 26, 2008 at Veterans’ Memorial Park at 11:00 am. There will be a $1,000 grand prize, plus four prizes of $150 each. Rickets are $5 each – Only 2,000 will be sold! For tickets call any Lions Club member or Craig Lamphier at 860-274-3187. All proceeds go to benefit Echo Lake Park Gazebo project.
TOWN OF WATERTOWNS FARMERS MARKET
The colorful and succulent fruits and vegetables of summer are heading downtown this year! Farmers Market, which bring in area-grown fresh produce, many organic and hand crafted local products will be available. Farmers Markets are catching on rapidly and this year Watertown will be one of the areas newest markets. The communities’ first Farmers Market will meet in the upper parking lot of the Watertown Library, off Main Street and Academy Hill. Saturday hours will be from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM from July 12 through September 27. **NEW** FARMERS “MARKET MASTER” NEEDED
The Market Master (manager) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the farmers’ market. The role of the market master may vary from handling the basic operation of a market, to developing the market and coordinating special activities, to handling any conflicts that may develop. The Town of Watertown is seeking a responsible Adult with good communication skills, relates well with the public, exceptional organizational skills, responsible, and capable of carrying out a variety of duties at the same time.
