Watertown Recreation Department is sponsoring the following trips.  For more information please contact Watertown Recreation at (860) 945-5246. Payment must accompany registration.

These trips are open to residents as well as non-residents and are on a first-come first-served basis.  We can cancel a trip at any time due to lack of enrollment, so register early.  We’ll need the name, the full address (including zip code) and phone number of each person going on the trip.  Please be sure to have this entire information ready at the time of registration.

 

All Watertown Recreation bus trips will leave from: The Offices at Heminway Park at 61 Echo Lake Rd, Watertown, CT.

Sunday, August 24, 2014; Hornblower - Sunday Brunch Jazz Cruise

The spectacular new 210 foot yacht. “The Infinity” has an open bow, covered sky deck and over-sized windows providing endless opportunities to the countless sites of New York Harbor. During our 2 hour cruise, we enjoy a fabulous Sunday Buffet Brunch with Jazz entertainment followed by DJ for dancing. Saturday, October 18, 2014; Halloween in Salem

The name of Salem is inextricably linked to the Witchcraft Hysteria of the1690’s. Spend Halloween in this wonderful town and learn how the Witches got their names. Special interior tour of Salem’s premier historic site. The House of the Seven Gables. Built in 1668, this is the oldest surviving 17th century wooden mansion in New England and inspired author Nathaniel Hawthorne to write his legendary novel. Don’t miss climbing the secret staircase! After your tour of The House of the Seven Gables, lunch will be at Finz Seafood & Grill, a waterfront restaurant located on Pickering Wharf. Menu: House Salad, Choice of: Baked Haddock or Grilled Chicken Breast, Vegetable, Potato Seasonal Dessert, Soda or Coffee. Time at the Street Festivities located in the downtown area. Saturday, December 6, 2014; Holiday in Manhattan

TOUR OF MAGNIFICENT GRAND CENTRAL STATION, renovated to its 1913 glory. The Beaux Arts building fell into disrepair and only through the amazing guidance of Jackie Kennedy did efforts result in the preservation of the historic landmark. Following our tour we will have free time to enjoy: 68 Shops and 35 Dining Options, Grand Central Holiday Fair held in Vanderbilt Hall, 76 Hand-picked vendors of unusual and exotic goods that cannot be found elsewhere. This afternoon we have a guided tour of The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. Begun in 1892 this Cathedral, the largest in the United States is a stunning example of gothic architecture. With stained glass windows that filter light so that they seem to glow and amazing architectural detail, this building is a place of reflection and of awe. Our guided Tour highlights wonderful art, sculptures, radiant stained glass windows, the magnificent Rose Window…….
