Saturday, May 3, 208; Souvenir at Seven Angels Theatre
By Stephen Temperly. Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism’s 2007 Art Leader of Connecticut award recipient Semina DeLaurentis plays the delightfully demented coloratura soprano Florence Foster Jenkins, a real life NY socialite, with a passion and love for opera. With her invincible self-confidence and her passion for opera, she stunned concert audiences with her “unique” interpretations of the opera repertoire and her legendary ability to not sing on key. Her cultish “American Idol” type fame, culminated in a sold-out performance at Carnegie Hall. “People may say I can’t sing, but no one can ever say I didn’t sing.” Florence Foster Jenkins. “Hilarious and deeply touching. Extraordinary. “ NY Daily News “Souvenir squeals with diva delight.” USA Today
