The Department of Public Works is pleased to announce that the draft of the Steele Brook Watershed Plan is available for review by clicking Here.
The documents including all applicable appendices are also available on a cd available at the Public Works/Engineering Office located in Suite 203 at 51 Depot Street.
This effort was funded by an EPA Grant program which is administered by the Department of Environmental Protection. The USDA- Natural Resources Conservation Service undertook and completed the effort for the Town and DEP. The Watershed Plan is the first step in evaluating the entire Steele Brook Watershed and specifically identifying measures to improve the watershed and address the previously identified water quality impairments. The removal of the Heminway Pond Dam is identified as an integral component in addressing water quality impairment between the dam and Echo Lake Road. The completed watershed based plan will provide the background and framework for future federal and state grant applications.
All interested individuals are invited and encouraged to review the documents and provide comments by June 8th 09. If you have any questions please contact the Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works. Written comments should be directed to the Town Engineer, Suite 203, 51 Depot Street or by calling 945-5240. |
