The Watertown Park and Recreation department is sponsoring a safe boating course which satisfies the State of Connecticut requirements for a Safe Boating Certificate. The course is administered by the Waterbury Power and Sailboat Squadron of the United States Power Squadrons. This course is widely regarded as the most comprehensive basic boating course available to the public and covers the following topics

- Charts and aids to navigation
- Navigation rules and safe boat handling
- Boat types and terms
- Boat handling and elementary seamanship
- Basic sailing terminology
- Trailer boating
- Regulations, equipment and safe operation

- Engine troubleshooting
- Marine radiotelephone
- Coastal and inland boating
Increase your safety and enjoyment afloat. Valuable if you own a boat, are considering buying your first boat or just go boating with friends. Successful completion satisfies the requirements for a Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate and is recognized by many insurance companies for personal/boat discounts.
