Tax Time is Upon Us
All tax bills will be mailed out at the end of June with a millrate of 23.32 and a due date of July 1, 2011. The tax office was busy printing various tax bills including personal property taxes for businesses located in town as of October 1, 2010, all motor vehicles registered in Town on October 1st, 2010, and all real estate bills.
Interest can be avoided if the account is paid within the thirty day grace period. Since July 31st falls on a Sunday, the last day to pay your taxes without interest will be August 1st.
Payment can be made by mail, in person at the tax office with cash, check or credit card, by calling 1.866.923.2190 or by visiting watertownct.org. There is a transaction fee for any credit card/debit card services. There is also a drop box located on the front of the Town Hall for your convenience for after hour payments. Please refer to the bottom portion of your bill for important information. If you have received a bill and you currently have an escrow account with a financial institution, please contact them directly. If you sold your property and you received a bill for it, please return it to the tax collector.
Any questions regarding assessments or a motor vehicle bill of a disposed vehicle need to be directed to the Assessors office at 945.5235.
IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE A TAX BILL and think you should have, please contact the tax office immediately.
Due to limited parking at the Town Hall, we encourage payments by mail.
Payments can be made in person at the Town Hall, if necessary, M-F from 9-4:45. Should you have any questions, please contact the office at 860.945.5232 or email us at taxcollector@watertownct.org.
