The Basic Sail and Power Safe Boating Course begins on Tuesday, Jan 4, 2005 from 7:00:00 PM to 9:00:00 PM at Swift Middle School on 250 Colonial Street in Watertown. Satisfactory completion of this course fulfills the Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate requirements. This 9 week course is open to boating enthusiasts with or without boats, and is ideal for those who want to learn more than the minimum required for the state certificate. Topics include; fundamentals of safe boating, rules of the road, navigational skills, proper equipment, etc. There is a fee of $50.00 to cover cost of registration and all course materials. When more than one family member shares course material, there is only a $10.00 fee for each additional person.
The course is being presented by the Waterbury Power Squadron (a unit of the nationally recognized United States Power Squadrons) in conjunction with the Watertown Recreation Department.
