The Emergency Assistance applications will be
taken up until May 1st, but the last day for deliverable fuels w=
as
March 14th. People=
are
now applying for secondary programs who have utilized all of their fuel
allotments, and that means they are in the process of just paying bills, th=
ere
is no more fuel delivery. ·
We are providing applications for the Stimul=
us
Rebate Program which is the IRS Program to those who do not file. We are not doing the program, becau=
se we
do not have time, but we are referring people to AARP, local libraries and =
the
IRS who will continue to help people fill out forms until their filing date,
which is October 15th, not April 15th. ·
There are no changes on the new ConnPace
applications, the only change there is the permanent card. ·
The =
“Our
survey found that local tax property relief programs vary considerably
throughout the State. Despite=
the
effort of municipal leaders and assessors a great deal of confusion for
residents remain. Assessors n=
oted
difficulty in implementing programs based on legislation without town speci=
fic
current income and age data.
Additional many assessors noted that certain elements of design grea=
tly
restricted the use of the program, particularly restrictive income limits.<=
/p>

report recommends the following initiatives designed to increase education
about existing programs: ·
Creating an information exchange among town
officials and assessors to aid them in making policy decisions. ·
Making information about local programs
available to the public on a state web site. ·
Distribution information about local property
tax relief programs to residents when they receive their annual property tax
bills. &=
nbsp; The
report further recommends ·
Providing property tax relief programs in an
equitable manner to low and moderate income households. ·
Examining the idea of combining or streamlin=
ing
existing property tax relief programs; and, ·
Considering existing programs and their use =
as
part of comprehensive tax reform for the State.” &=

It’s open to the public. ·
Healthnet is sponsoring an Italian Dinner on
February 11th featuring Bob Nell as their entertainer. It is free, but requires sign ups =
for
number purposes. ·
Spring Fling is on April 29th at =
the
Seven Angels, and it’s sponsored by the Waterbury Triad. The cost is $4.00 and tickets are
required. ·
The ceiling tiles were replaced after the
squirrel visited. ·
The Rotary Club donated a Wii game and they =
are
also going to purchase a Television to go with it. &=

Carew reported the bus was approved by the Town Council on Tuesday, March 1=

2008, and the bus has been ordered. =

Services/Municipal Agent Grant =

Monday, the $1,500 Grant for Social Services/Municipal Agent was sent to the
State on Friday. They plan to=
use
it for a laptop computer and a printer. =
; C. Congressman
Murphy =

bsp; Ms.
Peluso reported she spoke to Congressman Murphy’s office regarding any
concerns this Commission has with the elderly citizen’s issues. =

Willenbrock felt money was the biggest issue, due to the economy and ever
rising prices. =

suggestion was having Medicare being able to negotiate for pharmaceutical
prices to help with Medicare D. =
