      &= nbsp;     Discussion:       Mr. Kane: For the members of = the press here so it's clear, the cut to the Board of Education was $291,296. It was the difference in the State adopted budget versus the Governor's Proposed Budget of $97,873 in educatio= nal cost sharing. That made a net= reduction of $193,000, so I just wanted to clarify that.

3.&nb= sp;        Consider Setting Date for Machine Vote on Fiscal Year 2005/2006 Budgets

      &= nbsp;     MOTION:       (Mr. = Hebert, sec. Mr. Wick) to approve the Referendum Notice for the machine vote on the 2005/2006 Budgets as follows:

      &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    A referendum of electors and citizens qualified to vote in Town Meetings of t= he Town of Watertown<= /st1:City> will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and = 8:00 p.m. to vote for the approval or disapproval of Fiscal Year 2005-2006 budgets. Voting will be at the following polling places:

      &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    Heminway Park School, Heminway Park Road, Watertown, CT

      &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    Judson School, Hamilton Lane= , Watertown, CT

      &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    Swift Junior High School, Colonial Street, Oakville, CT

      &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    Polk School, Buckingham Street, Oakville, CT

      &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    Persons qualified to vote in Town Meetings who are not electors shall vote at any of the above mentioned polling places.

      &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    Absentee ballots may be obtained at the Town Clerk's Office.

      &= nbsp;     Discussion:       Mr. Rinaldi: Is that enough t= ime for the Town Clerk to do everything she has to do?

        &= nbsp;   Mr. Wick: I'm disappointed th= at the vote was not unanimous tonight for the budget that was recommended, and whi= le every member of the Council certainly has the right to vote his or her conscience, I think that while we have the right to vote . . . . .

        &= nbsp;   Mr. Wick: I'll yield.

&= nbsp;          Mr. Rinaldi: I thought this w= as a Special Meeting; that's not on the Agenda.

        &= nbsp;   Mr. Kane: Well discussion should have taken p= lace prior to the vote, but . . . . .

        &= nbsp;   Mr. Wick: I plead advanced senility in not p= icking it up sooner.

        &= nbsp;   Mr. Kane: Technically you're right. Discussion should have= been entered into prior to the vote.

        &= nbsp;   Mr. Rinaldi: Okay, I just wanted it to be on the record. Go ahead.<= /span>

&= nbsp;          Mr. Kane: Do you want to hold= your comments until Monday?

        &= nbsp;   Mr. Wick: No. As long as there's no objection I = would just simply say that I would hope that those who voted no would come forward with a budget that they would be able to support, and might find that you'd find more support than you think. Basically don't just say no; tell us what you can say yes to.
