The legal voters = of the Town of Watertown and those entitled to vote in Town Meetings are hereby WA= RNED AND NOTIFIED of a Special Town Meeting to be held on Monday, June 16, 2008 = at 7:15 p.m. at the Watertown High School Technology Room, 324 French Street, Water= town, CT to consider an appropriation in the amount of $498,697 for the design and construction of an indoor recreation facility to be located at Veteran̵= 7;s Memorial Park. Funds will be reimbursed through a grant from the State of Connecticut.

I hereby certify that on June 11, 2008, I left a duplicate copy of the attach= ed WARNING AND NOTICE of a Special Town Meeting of the Town of Watertown, Connecticut, to be held on June 16, 2008 with Virginia Russo, Assistant Town Clerk.

I further certify that on June 11, 2008 I caused a copy of said Warning and Notice to be published in the REPUBLICAN AMERICAN Newspaper, which has a substantial circulation in said Town.

I further certify that on June 11, 2008, I caused to be set upon the signpost nearest the office of the Town Clerk and all other places with signposts designated by the Town, a written copy of said Warning and Notice signed by= me as Town Manager.

I further certify that all the above acts were done at least five (5) days be= fore the holding of the Special Town Meeting on June 16, 2008.

Nardelli, Jr. was the Assistant Town Manager/Finance Dire= ctor of the Town of Watertown on the date the WARNING and RETURN OF WARNING were signed.

Ms. Adams: I’d like to first have C= huck or Frank give us an overview of this.

&n= bsp;

Mr. Frigon: This is a mechanism that the Town u= ses to fund the project. The project= is the indoor recreation facility being constructed at Veteran’s Memorial Park. As you recall we voted = on that several months ago. The project is to be funded largely through State funding or a STEAP Grant. Those funds are available to the T= own through a Riech and Tang account upon receipt of our expenditures, so the m= echanism used is we fund an account, the purchases or the work associated with that = building or this grant is paid for from that account, and then reimbursed by the Sta= te of Connecticut.

Ms. Adams: It’s important to note that w= hen we applied for this grant there are only certain things it can be used for. We can’t use it to reduce the budget, we cannot use it for other things we may need, however this is something that we applied for an received for recreation which is something that with the amount of children in Town it seems definitely needed.

MOTION: &nbs= p; (Mr. Rinaldi, sec. Mr. Mancini) that this Special Town Meeting appropriates $498= ,697 for the design and construction of an indoor recreation facility to be loca= ted at Veteran’s Memorial Park.
