      = ;      Ms. DeMand:  I’m here to requ= est a variance to build a deck.  Rig= ht now I have an existing deck on my house that needs to be replaced, and so we lo= oked at the square footage of the deck that we have right now and I really felt = that it would be to my benefit to add a larger deck onto the house.  Unfortunately I wasn’t aware= of the 30 foot variance until I went to the Town asking for a permit and I fou= nd out at that point, and I really thought about whether I should go back to a smaller deck, but I felt that it would be worthwhile to come and ask for the variance, because not only will it allow me to replace my deck, but it will also allow me to replace the stairs on the deck that I have.  Right now I have one long set of s= tairs and the proposed plan for the new deck is to add an “L” shaped = set of stairs on there.  I did not= put a copy of the deck plans in there but that also is one of the main reasons wh= y I wanted a new deck in addition to that.&nbs= p; Basically that’s all I have to say at this point.

 

      = ;      Mr. Roger:  The deck you have on t= he house now, is that 16 feet from the house outward?

        &= nbsp;   Ms. DeMand:  No, it’s 16= feet wide.

 

      = ;      Mr. Roger:  So it’s only 10 foot now, an= d you want to go 14 feet out?

 

      = ;      Ms. DeMand:  Yes, 14 feet.

 

      = ;      Mr. Sarandrea:  Well one thing I could say in your favor, at least you didn’t put the deck up.

 

      = ;      Ms. DeMand:  No, when I went, I definitely wouldn’t do that.  I hea= rd of people who have done things like that and what has happened and it’s = not worth it.

 

      = ;      Mr. Sarandrea:  Anybody have any questions?  Anybody from the public wish to sp= eak For or Against this Application?
