           &nb= sp;            =             M= r. Khericha: (Inaudible). The overhead door for the lower le= vel of the parking lot, the rear has been installed. He is not installing the bigger do= or, one door (inaudible). The rou= ghing is just about completed on all the floors in the addition. The lower level all the sheet rock= is up and they are putting a first coat of paint. The existing building side of the = second floor (inaudible) all completed, one coat of paint on it. They have started the finishings on= it. The masonry work is expected to be completed hopefully by the end of this week = and once that is done, he indicated that the roofing would be 100% done by end = of the month. That's basically all (= inaudible).

           &nb= sp;            =             M= r. Khericha: That's open bec= ause the (inaudible) door is not there but there are no finishes on that. It's just masonry. The lower floor is the one he's do= ing finishes, he has isolated, and the heat is on 24/7.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Fire Marshall Black: The State has required us to have concrete sidewalks across the aprons where the trucks drive back and forth = in front of the building. We were concerned about that in the future where asphalt meets concrete and then ba= ck to asphalt may break up under the weight of the trucks and the listing that= gives on that so we found a system that's called Pavement Texturing, it's similar= to what they can do in concrete, where they make a concrete look like brick or some other type of pattern. T= hey can do that with asphalt now. I called Jim Lohan at the State D.O.T. and verbally he has told me that there= is no problem at all. I spoke to= Roy Cavanaugh as well and he's not too familiar with it but saw no problem with it. As a matter of fact he was kind of excited about it and wants to research it for sidewalks throughout some are= as in Town with similar situations. I'm waiting for a response in writi= ng from the State, but it looks like it is acceptable to them, we'll put some = type of pattern in it and paint it a different, there's a paint that goes in wit= h it also so you can definitely tell it's a sidewalk but it will still be the as= phalted with no breaks and the asphalt will be put in at the same time as the (inaudible). That's what we're research anyway.

           &nb= sp;            =             M= r. Porter: And that request = get it in writing from D.O.T. Right = now it's just a verbal?

           &nb= sp;            =             F= ire Marshall Black: Yes.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Mr. Fusco: That's what I can't understand. When you put in a driveway such as= a fire house that you have to separate the sidewalk that's running across the driveway. That to me would be= a no/no, because in the Winter time you get water that's trapped between the cement and the asphalt and it heaves, it pushes that sidewalk away and eventually that gets bigger and bigger and then it becomes a problem. Now I've seen sidewalks here in th= is Town built like that and this is an ordinance I guess that was put in by the Zoning people. I can't unders= tand how they get away with that because that to me is just bad for a driveway.<= /p>

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Now when I was on the Housing Authority there was an article about the driveway= at the housing complex on Buc= kingham Street. Joe Masi asked me why didn't we finish the driveway at the Housing Authority. He said what did I= mean, finish? He said you're suppos= ed to cut that driveway and put a sidewalk across that driveway. I said for what? He said because that's the ordinan= ce that we have in Town, that was put in by the Planning and Zoning and that's what you should put in. I said that’s stupid, to cut a sidewalk across a driveway, that should be complete asphalt just like a roadway because if you separate the two, it separates and I have that same problem at my house right now. They put the sidewalk in probably 8= or 10 years ago, all the sidewalks up and down that hill have got gaps in them between the tar and the sidewalk. That bothers me, when somebody has to do that to a driveway. It breaks up the driveway. Eventually there will be a cost to= that driveway because it will start to heave.&n= bsp; After awhile the water gets under there and frost heaves it and anyb= ody who lives in New England knows that fros= t will heave and that's my gripe about that. I don't know how you guys feel abou= t it.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Fire Marshall Black: Exactly what you're saying was our concern also and we think we have an answer to that problem that will solve= it to our satisfaction, we're just waiting for something in writing.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Mr. Porter: It's my understand you requested (i= naudible) 15 outlets and as of today you're looking at 4 additional outlets total. What they did is they put 15, if t= he unit costs, they put 15 aside, probably wont use all of them.

There has been a to= tal of 14 change orders to date with a total of additional monies needed of $136,894.70. We had to transf= er $5,000 from contingency into the phone data systems account, that's to pay = for the infrastructure of the wiring and so forth for the phone, the data syste= m, which gives us right to today, $74,600.34 left in contingency.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     We are looking at the possibility of up to $25,000 for furniture and we're wai= ting on quotes for a window up in the meeting room and also for radio communicat= ion infrastructure that the electrician is working on, he's working on a quote = for that also, so the additional money may be coming out of that $74,000. That's what we see today anyway.

           &nb= sp;            =             M= r. Porter: And we have about= 3 months left on the project, Fred?

1.      =             St= atus Report by T. LoFrese

Mr. LoFrese: The track project is completed and = all bills have been submitted to the Public Buildings Committee for payment approval, which they have all been approved. There was a question by a town res= ident about a seam that he had observed in the track surface of the running surfa= ce. C. Beliveau took some photographs = and went out to observe. We also contacted Mark Roming the Project Architect to look a this issue and one ot= her concern that Charlie had observed with some cracking in the asphalt perimet= er of the track. Mark Roming sub= mitted a letter to me in writing which is part of your packet which state both of those items are normal and not to be misconstrued as a defect or concern an= d he did point out that the field had taken a beating, I believe is the way he described it and it needed some proactive repairs to bring it back to the status it was prior to the football season. I'll be meeting with the Facilities Manager, Buildings & Grounds, and we'll be going over a plan to do that this Spring.

Mr. Porter: So this should be the last time we= see the track issue on our agenda?

Mr. LoFrese: Yes.

           &nb= sp;                    &= nbsp;   Mr. Vetro: Summary Data Sheet= - Renovation and Addition Work is at 53%, Site Work about 62%. Overall contingency funds have act= ually decreased by about $21,000.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Asbestos Abatement - we had additional asbestos material. It came out to $4,000. Initially we found some asbestos material over a couple of doorways. It was a transited product, in other wo= rds a non-pliable interior board so they had located that on the exterior wall above a couple of exterior doors. We then started checking and found it in another location as well. We talked to Bob Porter and got th= at approved previously and we performed that abatement work. However, I have in this report und= er pending, I knew we had this meeting coming up I just went for official appr= oval if you will.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Mr. Porter: Joe had called and said they found = the issue and in order to keep the project moving, I okayed the bill. Originally it was supposed to be $= 2,000, but it turned out to be in 2 spots, so it was $4,000.

That was for the addi= tional safety pads in the main gym as well as the auxiliary gym. The school bond u= se of the main gym, never realized that they have to need more safety padding than what was shown on the plan. T= he seismic joints is another issue that is up. We are looking for some additional seismic control cupboards, seismic joints between the new and existing building. Nothing of a major consequence, th= at's the only 2 joints here that we're looking at.

Designer had called for the mains = to be run, however they didn't indicate a pilot gas system and you need pilot gas= for hot water and for the boilers, so that's what these dollars represent. Coordination issues, the water pip= ing "D" wing we found that the existing space above the ceilings was not ample enou= gh or gave enough room to allow for the plumbing pipe to be run along with the duct work and the electrical and all of that, so we had to move the plumbing over into the adjacent classrooms and run it through the classrooms. That added more piping for them, m= ore work, thus the $4,500 cost. T= hat was a negotiated number by the way, it was more in the neighborhood of $6,0= 00.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Electrical - Lighting in D115 and D152 is what that should say for $1,407. That's for some additional light fixtures that we need for spaces. There are storage rooms that are bigger than what you would want lights. Add data outlets, the contractor has this proposal for adding data outlets in the auditorium sound system. His claim is they're required there. Both of these= items are actually in dispute right now. The lighting, while we agree there is not a cost the cost is what (i= naudible) whereas adding data outlets we're going through the steps and arguing with them.

There was an issue where the origi= nal plans indicated a stream gauge cover with the added of the gym, the gym add. The plans do not carry t= he stream gauge on that particular add so thus the contractor is looking at an added cost. I'm not sure if I explained that correctly for you. We have 2 plans. A pla= n to order without the gym and a plan with the gym, and when they accepted the alternate for the gym, that particular plan did not indicate the stream gau= ge, the other one did.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Mr. Vetro: Project Commentary, under Site Work= . We poured the concrete pads for the generator and the compressors. They finished hauling off the excess fill material at this point in time. There probably is some additional = excess material, it's just kind of hard to determine at this time. The generator actually was set on = top of the concrete pad here a week or so ago.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Exterior Veneer Area "A" - it's about 95%. What's left is the exterior stairs= , A1 as we call it, and they're about halfway up with the brick. They have 50% to go. Given the cold weather we're focusi= ng on the inside right now and they'll jump back out there towards the end of the month. Interior masonry is ro= ughly 90%, we've got to finish up the cafeteria area, kitchen, if you will, looki= ng at some time in the next week and a half, thereabouts for that, and then so= me miscellaneous masonry throughout the building.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Interior framing is again 95%. Once the masonry gets completed they can tie the framing into that masonry and compl= ete that.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Heating (inaudible) complete, the boilers are operating, temporary heat is on, the = sheet rock taping has started on the second and third floors. The third floor is done with all t= he classrooms, except for the one where we're bringing in materials, we're using one room = for a loading zone.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     The next floor down, same kind of condition.&n= bsp; Sheet rock is up and about 65%, 70% of the classrooms. Again we're also holding off one particular classroom for a loading zone.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Painting has started on the third floor. Plumbing and electrical roughings are on-going.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Auxiliary Gym - The exterior veneer is complete.&nbs= p; They started washing down, they need to be washed down after hours g= iven the daylight concerns we won't be able to do that other than Saturdays. You get a lot of the chemical, bec= ause of the proximity of the cars, etc., chemicals definitely eat up some paint.=

They just have to do the finish caulking, that sort of thing, but they'll need a warmer day. Pl= umbing work is complete. Electrical/mechanical roughings have started. Sprinkler system is complete, basi= cally we have duct work in electrical doing that. Locker room (inaudible) complete e= xcept for the punch list.            &nb= sp;            =             M= r. Khericha: I met with Todd= and the Town Manager this afternoon. Tomorrow they will give Todd the amendment to the contract with the additional fees and we'll start working on the drawings. Once the drawings have been comple= ted, we'll discuss with Chuck how they want to handle the bidding for the (inaud= ible) call the State and find out because it's a State Grant and if they have any= objections or what their rules are. One portion of it. They were received by my office by Federal Express on Tuesday. T= here are some closeout documents which outline H.B. Fishman's recommendation to approve the last two invoices, it included the warranties that the Town received from SilkTown Roofing as well as (inaudible) Roofing and there was further documentation from H.B. Fishman pointing out the items on Phase II = that still need to e done, however the Trumbull account is near its, the remaini= ng funding in the Trumbull account is near none, so this is something the Committee will need to consider on passing forward to the Town Council.
