        &= nbsp;   Mr. LoFrese:  Ordinarily I'd be talking about this under the Swift Middle School Project, however Dr. Erardi has me on an information campaign and I'm quadruple booked this evening.

 &= nbsp;          I wanted to speak briefly about something that I'm hopeful will be considered= by this Committee as an additional item on the Agenda this evening, which woul= d be a change order issued to Supreme, our site contractor on the Swift Middle School Project.  This change o= rder would be the additional work necessary to (inaudible) and complete the athl= etic field area at Swift Middle School and p= repare it for the artificial turf surface that we're anticipating going out to bid= for toward the end of this month.  It's pending Planning and Zoning approval, which there is a meeting tonight about.  The change order is $483,063.72.  Included in this change order is some enhancements that were not originally included in the architect's original proposal.  These enhancements include about 300 feet of wooden guardrail needed= to be relocated and moved, additional chain link fencing to encompass the fiel= d, when we met in the design stages we realized that we needed to have some fairway netting to prevent balls from going into the parking lot there is s= ome additional storm drain changes that needed to be put in place.  We're also looking for some soccer= goal posts and a portable pitching mound.  The original grass field would not have needed this portable pitching mound, but with an artificial turf surface we need to have a portable pitch= ing mound.  Also included in this = is some additional square footage synthetic turf surface.  When we went through the design ph= ase we realized we needed to make it as large as possible to accommodate baseball = and that is included in the change order that's proposed this evening by Suprem= e.  What this effectively means is tha= t the contingency with the project, we'll need to look again at that contingency = for about $100,000 for helping to provide for these enhancements.  Mr. Khericha is here this evening = to talk briefly about the existing status of what our contingency lines are and our allowance lines.  It's my = belief that those lines are very flush and will get us to the end of the project without any issues and with a significant chunk of money remaining.  If you like I can turn it over to = Mr. Khericha to touch briefly on what remains in those, or you could speak to h= im at the time of the Swift Project, whatever the Committee prefers.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Porter:  To accommodate you we let you spea= k now, and we'll have Mr. Khericha address the contingencies.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  Are there any questions at this ti= me?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Demirs:  How many baseball fields are there= ?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  There's one baseball field and one softball field and a soccer, football, field hockey combination, multipurpo= se field.  All 3 fields, the main= playing ball field and the hardball and softball field, they all overlap, so in ess= ence one sport team at a time.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Demirs:  So you only need one portable moun= d?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  Correct.  Softball doesn't need it.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Demirs:  There's just one hardball field?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  Correct.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Demirs:  So you only need one portable moun= d?

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LeBlanc:  What's the size of that hardball field?  Is it sufficient to ha= ve (inaudible) batting through there or playing games through there?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  Sufficient for?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LeBlanc:  Long fly balls and stuff like that= .

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  From home plate to right field fen= ce is about 255, 260 feet.  That wou= ldn't have been significantly different whether we did artificial turf or natural gas.  In either case it would = be a shallow right field.  As for softball,= it's just the opposite, it's left field I think that's sufficient for softball.<= /p>

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Demirs:  So the hardball field is going to = have a fence around the whole thing?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  The entire perimeter, the entire multipurpose complex is going to be fenced in.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Demirs:  That would be part of the outfield= fence for the baseball fields?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  Correct the fence is in essence wh= at is preventing people from coming in and out of complex.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Demirs:  Basically (inaudible) same thing?<= /p>

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  Similar, yes.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LeBlanc:  You're suggesting this $400,000 co= me out of the contingency fund?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  No, we received obviously a grant = for $600,000 and at a previous Public Buildings Committee meeting we had talked about approximately $200,000 making up the difference for what was remainin= g in the original budget by Kaestle Boos, so what in essence we're talking about tonight is an additional $100,000 to complete the field with the added enhancements.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Porter:  It's not $483,000 that we're looki= ng for?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  No.  In the $483,000, part of that is being covered by the grant and the original change orders.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LeBlanc:  We have about $130,000 left over?<= /p>

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  The original proposal that Kaestle= Boos brought to the Town Council was about $790,000.  To complete the field with the add= ed enhancements, we think we're going to need an additional $100,000, that would come out of= the project contingency.  The numb= er that I mentioned earlier, the $483,000 that is the change order to do the necessary site work to prep the gravel, the under drainage, the conduit for future lighting if the Town so chooses, all that work, the additional enhancements I mentioned will all be done within that project budget.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Porter:  The original documents called for = us to do a grass field, but we went from grass to turf.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Demirs:  We have $600,000 to do it . . . . = and the grant was $600,000?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  Correct.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Demirs:  So on top of that Todd, how much m= ore are we using?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  On top of that is approximately $3= 00,000 and at a previous meeting at both the Board of Education I think had come e= re and spoken briefly, that $200,000 was already designated out of the project contingency to go towards this and I believe that's in the monthly report, = if I'm correct.  That's already accounted for in our project.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Ceniccola::  So what's the $483,000?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  The $483,000 is a change order to Supreme, the existing site contractor, to prep, do all the under drainage, = do all the gravel layers that are necessary for the artificial turf surface, b= ut that was work we knew up front we had to have done.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Demirs:  So just the turf and the labor to install the turf that was what the $600,000 grant was for?  It wasn't for the drainage and the= prep and all that?

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. LoFrese:  We had a $600,000 grant that in es= sence we knew would not cover the entire cost of putting in a turf field at Swift Middle School.  What we had is our estimate was $790,000.  $600,000 of that $790,000 is from = the grant.  With the additional enhancements we realize now that we need more like $890,000.

 

 &= nbsp;          Mr. Demirs:  So the extra $100,000 is coming ou= t of the contingency fund?

      = ;            &n= bsp;      = ;           Mr. Khericha:  The contract is moving towards substantial completion.&nbs= p; It's anticipated that some time next week the contractor will be rea= dy for us to make a punch list.  = Chief Black has already started moving the communications on his regular (inaudib= le) the new addition side.  The el= evator inspection was conducted today and they need a new disconnect switch, which= is expected tomorrow, so the elevator will be inspected the early part of next week. The contractor is balancing the mechanical units, so it appears that = he is doing a final cleaning on Sunday and next week we'll be making a punch l= ist and the end of the week or so the Chief will be moving into the new additio= n.

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Demirs:  Has the floor been filled with epoxy?  Where the cracks were?=   I the main bay, where the fire tru= cks go.

 

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Khericha:  They filled those cracks with the material that the manufacturer recommended, included calking and (inaudible) the special material to fill the cracks.

 

 =             &nb= sp;            =           Mr. Demirs:  In the apparatus room also?

 

 =             &nb= sp;            =           Mr. Khericha:  Yes.

 

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Demirs:  Is there any warranty on that?  Is the Town getting any warranty o= r any coverage on those cracks that are in the floor?  In other words, 2 or 3 years down = the road, if that floor opens up again?

 

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Khericha:  I think the floor itself, if I'm n= ot mistaken, has a 5 year warranty on it.

 

 =             &nb= sp;            =           Mr. Demirs:  The full floor has a 5 year warran= ty on it?

 

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Khericha:  Yes, and we did meet the manufactu= rer at the site because those are not structural cracks.

 

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Demirs:  That's fine, but that's a lot of w= eight on that floor over there, and down the road if something does happen to that floor, it's going to cost the Town a lot of money to fix it.

 

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Khericha:  They do kind of floor cracks all t= he time, so we did meet with them, and how those cracks happened, that’s naturally (inaudible) so it's (inaudible) crack, it's not structural cracks= .

 

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Demirs:  Right, but all I'm concerned with = is all the weight of the fire trucks on that floor.  I mean year after year after year they're parked there and in the Winter they go out they carry salt, they ca= rry material, I mean this epoxy is all repellent to that stuff?

 

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Khericha:  I think it's too bad, if you had n= oticed how it was prepped, the whole thing, it's a process, because they understand how those cracks are there and what it's used for.  In fact the same concern was raise= d by a couple of the Chief's committee, and they met the contractor on the site to question him, and he said he's not worried about it, they do it all the tim= e.

 

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Demirs:  So it should be all right?

 

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Khericha:  Yes.

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Demirs:  10 years down the road . . . . war= ranty for 5 years . . . . if something would happen you wouldn't see it in 5 year= s, so if it had to be repaired . . . . within 5 years they'll repair it.

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Demirs:  I was just concerned with that, I = mean it's a legitimate concern, that's a lot of weight sitting on that floor, it= 's there and you're getting salt from the road during the winter and it goes on there, cause I know salt goes on concrete and it turns it white and it lifts the surface off it, you know what I mean?

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Demirs:  So I was concerned about that.  The apparatus room was all done al= so, cause there was a crack there also.

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Khericha:  I think the structural slab is 8 i= nches.

            &n= bsp;            = ;           Mr. Khericha:  It's like a 3 part system.  They shot blot the surface, seal t= he whole surface, and it's like a 3 part system.  They put in one coat, two coats, t= hree coats, and it's a flooring system they do, it's called resinous floor, the = top floor is epoxy, they mix sand in it to get the roughness.

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  I'll start with the budget first.  I think you each have a copy of the budget that I printed out today, it has today's date up in the top left corner.  This gives you a brea= kdown of the different line items for the project and shows on the bottom right s= ide $67,703.82 is what remains as a total of all those line items.  The biggest ones being the conting= ency which has $27,752 left right now.  There are a couple of small things, the flagpole may be one, there is some floor leveling, that's another, outlets, they have an open change orde= r, for lack of a better term to call it, with a price per outlet that we don't have a total on that yet, that's still on-going.

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Porter:  They toured the rooms, they needed= to add on here, one there, so that's what this issue is.

        &= nbsp;   Chief Black:  Right.  In the construction budget you can= see what's been paid in the expended column to Gar San to date.  Are there any questions on that?

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  I have a letter dated May 16th to = the Town Manager and basically what this is saying is that the project is going= to be completed under budget but then it also mentions that the bonding money, when Frank Nardelli took it from the bonding company he invested it and its made significant interest, it's made a little over $400,000 in interest.  Right now there's roughly $240,000= of that left.  We used some for t= he rear driveway and another $120,000 was transferred from that back basically when the project started, back into it so that we could put some of the val= ue engineered items back into the project.&nb= sp; We're asking the Council to transfer $138,325 back into the project = for the list that's shown here of items that we feel will enhance the project, = make it a little safer in some degrees and also encourage the use of the buildin= g by our members a little bit better.  Some of the big ones are a guard rail across the areas in the rear parking lot w= here steep embankments are, are there.  In particular where the old driveway used to go out onto French Street.  We caught a little old lady the ot= her night taking a short cut through the lot, and just before she went over the edge we managed to run out and stop her, so there needs to be something in place there to stop the little old ladies from doing that.  Nothing against little old ladies,= by the way.  Some asphalt curbing= .  One of the corridors, the floor ti= le has been found to be, possibly, for some reason there are two different shades = of colors, so they're going to have to tear that up anyway, and we found that = the resinous floor that we were talking about is a really excellent surface as = far as non=3D-slip goes and this corridor has a long handicapped ramp in it, so= we'd like to replace that tile with the resinous flooring.  The $3,500 figure that is there do= es not reflect the credit that we'd be getting back for not putting the tile floor= in that location.

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Porter:  The floor is going to have to be replaced because the tiles don't match, the colors don't match.

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Demirs:  (Inaudible) be put in there?

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Khericha:  There's a difference in the shade = of the color.

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Demirs:  Right, so . . . . by putting that = in is less expensive than if you change the tile?

 

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  No, it's more expensive, but we're paying the difference, and we're not sure exactly what the difference will = be, but it won't be any higher than $3,520.&nb= sp; The flagpole we already mentioned.&= nbsp; The computer system, it was our hope that the project would have eno= ugh money in it to install a central network system with a server and a unit fo= r us to backup to for the administrative side, there is not, so we moved that in= to this request, to put in a better system for all of our offices where we'd a= ll be tied together, and that will also free up some computers for use in our breathing air room and our training room where we hadn't had any before.  There's a microwave oven for the k= itchen, which is a small amount.  Our breathing air compressor that fills our bottles that all our guys where at fires is about 24 years old.  = It's designed for what we call allow pressure system, and we have high pressure bottles now, so we have set it to be at its maximum pressure but it doesn't= fill the bottles all the way with air.  The manufacturer has given (inaudible) which gives a little less time when we're in a fire wearing the bottle, so we put in to replace that system.  That's the biggest am= ount there, that's $33,000.

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  The system is big, it's a 3 phase,= I believe it's 12.5 horsepower, something like that, it's a big system, but w= hat really makes it expensive is the filtration system.  The air has to go through a system= that basically filters everything . . . .

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Demirs:  (Inaudible) oxygen.

 

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  Right, it removes the moisture fro= m the air, the humidity from the air, so that the air that the guys are breathing= is a very dry very clean air, no chance of any mold or anything growing in the bottle.

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Porter:  There are NFCAS requirements and i= t's a 6,000 psi system.

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Demirs:  If you have to have it, they have = to have it.

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Porter:  No, I'm just giving an explanation= , you asked the size of it.

 

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  It's a very specialized piece of equipment.

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Demirs:  It's not straight oxygen?

 

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  No, it's room air.  In our exercise room for the guys = we have a treadmill that, when we took it out it was shot, when we moved it ou= t of the building for the project, so we were going to need to replace that anyway.  They've also asked fo= r an elliptical machine and a stationary bike for the fitness room, that's $3,700.  The carpet vacuum cle= aner that is designed for bigger area carpets like we have now, that's $500.  Kitchen utensils and pans, we have= a wonderful kitchen now but nothing to cook with, basically we had a 1950 domestic kitchen before, so we're asking for something for that.  Pain the existing basement, garage= and storage, that was not in the project, but it definitely needs a coat of paint.  We've got a price in t= he project but it will be less expensive if we wait until the project is done = and do this outside, so that's what that is in there for.  Shrubs and trees near the rear entrance.  The Highway Departm= ent has done a great job if you've driven by there on French Street in the past= few years, they've done a really good job in grading, it washed out a little bit today but that's to be expected, but there's no money for shrubs and trees = to make it look a little better, they're going to spray it with that grass see= d, but . . . .

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Porter:  Just as a clarification too, Dave,= the construction project line ended un the back of the parking lot, so to go to= French Street that was going to be done by the Department of Public Works, which was done, and that's where these plantings would go, they're outside the construction project.

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  Ice machine replacement, we have 2= ice machines that are about 30 years old and neither one of them work when we t= ook them out so this is one machine to replace the two.  Power point projectors and install= ation of 2 that we already purchased those are in the training classroom the meet= ing room and the conference room, so that we have a state of the art, hopefully pretty close facility for training and meetings in any of those 3 areas.  Turnout gear dyer, we have a brand= new turnout gear washer/extractor that was bought through a federal grant that's being installed in the building now, and turnout gear, fire gear cannot go = into a dryer, it will damage the materials and the coatings and so forth that ar= e in it, so if you take that out of this extractor and you hang them to dry, and there's a system now that looks like a coat rack but it blows warm, pretty = much tepid air through the inside of these hollow system that you hang it on and= it increased the drying time from 24 hours to maybe 5 or 6hours for the gear, which is important when the guys are waiting for their coats.

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Demirs:  What is it, a gas dryer?

 

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  It's electric.  It's 220 volt electric.  Shelving, hoses, walk out mats, so= ap dispensers, some miscellaneous things that we need around the building, that's the next line and a 2 year contract for the HVAC & heating system which I meant = to ask Mr. Khericha about, does that 2 year service contract kick in after the first year or . . . .

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Khericha:  The warranty won't be before one y= ear.

 

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  Right, but tilters would have to b= e done and all that type of thing.

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Khericha:  That's (inaudible).

 

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  We only received one quote on that= so far, we're hoping the other quote will be a little lower.

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Porter:  Is the quote you have from TriStar= ?

 

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  No, that's the one we're waiting for.  This is from Pelletier, = the people who were installing it and balancing it now.

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Porter:  Tri-Star does the work for the Tow= n now, maintenance at the Police Station, and I'm not sure . . . .

 

  &nb= sp;         Mr. Demirs:  What is that $11,000 for?  As far as maintenance contract?

 

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  I should have brought it with me, I don't have the whole breakdown here but I can get a copy for you.  It's for 2 years, $5,500 a year, r= eplace all the filters, belts, things that are maintenance, not warranty work like motors or something like that, but there are numerous air handlers and condensers, fans, diffusers, heat exchangers, they're everywhere so that's = what that is for.  We are waiting f= or another price on that which hopefully will be lower.

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  That quote came from our data proc= essing people that work for the Town, it includes the servers, 4 PC's to go on our desks, it includes all the wiring, whatever hardware they need to make the thing work.

  &nb= sp;         Chief Black:  Not for our computers, UPS for our= phone lines.  This was his, it will = be no higher than this, that was his quote.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Site Work - Gym sidewalks for $1,953.  We talked about this a couple of different times, it's where we're widening the sidewalk up alongside the gym on the north and east sides, to eliminate the (inaudible) light up the side of the building and help drain some of that w= ater out from alongside the building.  That's a negotiated number.

 

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     The site retaining wall is an add of $4,377.&n= bsp; Later when we get into concrete we'll actually see a credit of $8,900.  We had approved going= with a concrete wall in this location, it's come back that we'll do a segmental wall, which is cheaper than a concrete wall, thus we have the overall credi= t.  But this is the add for putting in= a segmental wall.  In the concre= te section we'll see where the concrete guy gave us a credit back for not installing t= hat concrete wall.

 

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     The last 2 items, northwest drainage, additional drainage work, the northwest drainage is right alongside the (inaudible) we have a fairly large retaining wall right near the generator, there's a natural spring there that developed probably over the last year it started coming out and water is now working = its way around the way, not through the wall which would have been nice because= we have a lot of stone etc. to catch water in that way, instead coming along around the side of the wall and coming out in front, that in turn spills out onto the sidewalk and in the Winter that is going to create a problem.  It's on the north side of the buil= ding, one of the shadow areas.  WE t= hrew a number here of about $2,000.  = Since then I've actually gotten a price from the contractor of $4,900 for doing t= hat work and we will be discussing that with him.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Additional drainage, on the west side of the site, we finished up through there, if you ever walk back there you'll see that the sidewalks are all done, the gradin= g is all done.  That area of grass = is amazingly green.  They're taki= ng water from neighboring properties, funneling down and being now channeled right in across the property at this location.  It too, now crosses the sidewalk, so again come Winter time you'll h= ave a freeze type problem.  It's a= n egress issue.  K.B.A. is taking a loo= k at it and they looked at adding some more drainage to correct that problem.  WE put a placeholder here of $4,-000.  The contractor is te= lling us a very large number of about $20,000.&n= bsp; We're a little different there.&nbs= p; K.B.A. and myself are again going to go back and talk to him and find out why this number is what it is.  Some of this has to do with the fact that you have to cut up the asphalt.  There is no easy way= to get back to that site at this point, without trampling up and destroying so= me of the existing grassing and that sort of thing.  There is literally no . . . .

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Multi-purpose room change, TR#26, again this is a placeholder by myself of $1,500 for gen= eral trades.  They've gone ahead an= d they've there is a computer lab that we had to go ahead and put some sheet rock over it.  It came out that they wou= ld like the larger more markerboard/tactboard and that's what this is for.  They also went to floor boxes inst= ead of the wall mounted boxes, this has the money in it for Gar San to create the trenches for that.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Existing steel columns, Area C, when we opened up the window walls, we found not only did we have a problem with the window heads, but the steel columns themselv= es had deteriorated due to taking water.  The glass block in particular seems to be where the water is really coming from, but in taking the water deteriorated the columns to a point wh= ere we had to do some repairs.  We didn't have to replace any columns, but we had to take the tubes, a section= of tubes and patched over the top and welded them back in place.  Then the old steel flanges that we= re also welded to these columns, which the window system was put to attached t= o, it was fond that some of the welds were deteriorated to the point that they were also breaking off and they were only welded on one side.  K.B.A.'s engineer came up and reco= gnized that we needed to do a little bit more support in structure, so he had us w= eld on the other side as well. that actually just took place, we did that on a = time and material with Bob.  With t= his one here you'll see in this report.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Drywall/Plaster - the first item, rating of the duct chase, we actually talked about this q= uite a bit in the past, and we had to go ahead and raise the chase down to the n= ew addition to meet building codes.  We're going through all 3 floors, we need to rate that (inaudible) f= ire rating and that's what this is all about.&= nbsp; We did it on a time and material, it was approved not to exceed and = we met that at $4,642.  The multi= -purpose room change this is where we have some room issues where they've gone ahead= and had the sheet rock one particular wall.&nb= sp; The existing conditions are such that it's obvious it's going to be = in rough shape so we had to (inaudible).

Vetro:  No, I've had this = multi room change several times because the issue is the same for all, or they're doing different work for the same change.&= nbsp; KI.B.A. issues me a proposal request #26, what this is called, PR#26= , if you notice the nomenclature, C stands for the area it's in, if I have an A,= B, C, or site work.  PR is the pr= oposal request number #26, and the multi purpose room change is simply the title.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>  So if I've got this multi purpose = room change and the drywall guy got it in the Gar San General Trades, I'll have = it here underneath, the electrician, I'll have it in a couple of different are= as.  That's all related to that same cha= nge, each contractor having their bit.

Vetro:  Correct.  In this case for the drywall contr= actor was simply to drywall that one wall.  The next one down is sheet rock ceiling in the band room, where we t= ook down the asbestos material in that band room and with one by one tiles whic= h we found to be contaminated with blue dots, now we're looking at re-sheet rock= ing that.  The $18,000 is simply a placeholder.  Freddie and I to= ok a look at that and felt . . . .

Vetro:  Yes, we feel it wi= ll be less than that.  We're actually fairly top (inaudible).  The classroom wall repair, the existing conditions right now if you were to walk into that basement and I invite any of you to come by and take a look at it cause it is in fairly rough condition.&nbs= p; The sheet rock probably around 9 feet up and goes around the room in= a band, however below that (inaudible) surface that's been painted numerous t= imes to the point that it's sucked right through all tackable material, there is= a number of staples, gouges, that sort of thing, it will not look like a brand new building if we simply pain the surface and walk away, so we're recommen= ding that we go ahead and take sheet rock, laminate it over the top of this mate= rial and make it look like . . . .

We ran into the same condition over in Area A, the ot= her side, the very first phase we went into.

Vetro:  That's where the s= teel got rotted.  On the other side= we haven't been able to, while we've abated the window wall there, we haven't = been able to truly analyze those tops, it doesn't look like it's anywhere near t= he other ones, so I don't believe we'll be touching those, but we'll still have the plate issue, but not the top issue, but this is just for the courtyard side.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Area B, the Auxiliary gym, all of this has actually remained the same from our l= ast meeting for the most part, except now they have completed all of the light fixtures.  The issue we're hav= ing right now is with the gym floor and we had some (inaudible) trying to resol= ve that issue.

 

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Area C, the asbestos abatement is now complete.=   Area C is that new area that they've now taken over, (inaudible) upp= er two floors.  The rough demolit= ion has started.  They are pretty = well along, another week or so we should be done there.  The masonry installation has start= ed along the courtyard side, when they complete that by the end of this week, we'll start window installation right around the early part of next week.  Mechanical electrical roughings are going, they are just starting.  Were moving right along.

Vetro:  In the Summer we'v= e got a schedule and a half.  Come t= his Summer, I've started (inaudible) the abatement contractor goes into two areas, what= is going to become the media center which is now the cafeteria, and they're al= so going to go into the boiler rooms.  Both areas will take close to a month, there is a considerable amoun= t of work in that boiler room.  The= big thing in the cafeteria is getting the floors up, etc. that will probably ta= ke about 3 weeks, between that and all the fittings that they have in the kitc= hen area.  They have to open up the walls find the fittings, etc.  Once they get done with the Cafeteria, they're going to roll into Area D which is the other classroom wing, finish up the abatement on the windows.  As soon as we get done with the abatement in the media center area, we'll start working that with the contractors, the boiler room, the same thing, and the boiler room will be t= he biggest push simply because there's a lot of work that needs to occur before kids g= et in there.  As soon as the pave= ment takes place and finishes up we have to go ahead and pour concrete to get the footings in place, start installing the steel, got to get that steel joist = up, the beams in place, columns, in place, then after we get our decking down w= e're going to pour the concrete slab in that area.  I've got to get that slab poured b= efore the kids otherwise it will be a complete zoo.  The other problem is we're going t= o be fighting the exterior. On the outside we're going to be putting up a retain= ing wall right along the front of the building in that same general area.  They're also doing all of the pavin= g and site work right in front.  It's going to be a conflict between all the trades there.

 

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Mr. Porter:  And to top that off, the Town is g= oing to bid (inaudible) sewer interceptor.  That's at the front, the entrance off of (Inaudible) Street, it's go= ing to impact partly into the driveway so what the hope is that they will get t= hat work done so we can finish the front of the building.  It's going to be tight.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Mr. Vetro:  There are a number of issues of co= urse with all of this.  The abateme= nt has got probably our biggest delay, if they take that full month we're really g= oing to be behind.  The steel work, concrete work, like I said I've got to open that main lobby back up to the school, we're going to take over that whole front of the school, the "= E" wing, which is that classroom wing, we're going to have the boiler room and= the cafeteria, and in the middle of all of this we'll have the front entry to t= he school which we have to turn back over to them.  That's going to present quite a bi= t of challenges.

Vetro:  As far as the abat= ement goes, if you've ever been in that boiler room, there's literally no place to move, they have no place, it's looking like more and more we're going to ha= ve breakdown and do the one boiler, break down the containment, after we've ab= ated that, so that they can have a place to place the next sections.  All of these boilers, there are 3 boilers down there, they have to take each section, for sectional boilers, = they take each section part like a sandwich and they stack it some place.  They can't pull it out of containm= ent and still be considered in containment, so that means they've got to get cl= ear air and then they can tear one down.  We're trying to get the piece of equipment there, the hot water heat= er that's there right now, out of that space, that would free up some room, however in the next breath we've got to go ahead and lead an alleyway or ch= ase if you will to get to the electrical room which is directly behind the boil= er space.  So you come down into = the boiler room and they've got to actually leave an alleyway at that point aro= und the stairs to get to the back where the main electrical room, because if th= ere is ever a problem in the building, something shorts, whatever, we've got to= be able to get there right away, so it's just a conflict that never ends.

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     Mr. Porter:  That's why we questioned seriously = when they talked about putting the turf out here that they could do it for the $536,000.  They couldn't, but = unfortunately that's all the stuff that kept going.

 

      = ;            &n= bsp;            = ;     M4. Ceniccola:  So they ended up with a multi-purpo= se field with soccer, hardball, softball, football, lacrosse.

      = ;            &n= bsp;      = ;           Mr. Khericha:  We didn't get i= t all, because the money isn't there, but we tried to get what we could, and that's one of the reasons was that what we had anticipated when we prepared the proposal was (inaudible) meetings involved and town and department and Todd= 's side, and the area was increased by like almost 15,000.  That added to the cost and then (inaudible).  AS far as the contingency is concerned, as Joe's report sows, there is $525,000 to $522,0= 00 left.  In addition to that we = still have another 200,000 in allowances, so in reality we have $722,000 in contingency less $100,000 which will come for the field, so there is still almost $622,000 left in the contingency.
