ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR’S REPORT 11/15/07

  1.   After several questions to Joe McGrail and me, the council voted unanimously to grant the funds.

 

2.      Joe McGrail, Jack Traver and I had= a luncheon meeting with Jim Panczykowski, Vice President of Binswanger Corporation, the largest privately held industrial site marketing firm in t= he country.  He is very intereste= d in marketing the 400 Park Roa= d building (now KX industries and formerly Winchester), and thinks he might have an immediate client interested. He has already tal= ked with the chief attorney for Capstone, the owners of the building, who indic= ated to him that they would seriously consider giving Binswanger the listing in a couple of months when the contract with Colonial Realty in Connecticut expires.  After the meeting, I= took Panczykowski on a tour of the lower part of the industrial park, particularly the Baille property, the Tedesco property and the Oster property.  He also thinks there might be a party interested in locating a hotel= in town.  He was also very intere= sted in the Sealy Property.

 

  1.   She is happy to help, and wil= l try to be our eyes and ears in the process.

 

  1.   Her agency provides employees along with their job coaches to local employ= ers.

 

  1.   Met se= veral times with him and Ruth Mulcahey to try to get his project approved by P&Z so he can start construction this fall and winter.  He got his final approvals, w= ith which he can work, at the last meeting of the P&Z.  He intends to start construct= ion soon.

 

  1.   Also participating were Joe McGrail, Jack Traver, Don Orsini, Chuck Frigon, Ron Webb and Da= ve Minnich.

 

  1.   He spoke to th= e Watertown Ch= amber of Commerce Board and was well received.=   He also was guest speaker at the local Rotary Club. He has requested a letter of endorsement from the Chamber which I will pursue.  He has also requ= ested a letter of endorsement from this EDC.

 

  1. &nbs= p; I’ve been in discussions with him, and will do whatever I= can to help.

 

  1.   She has some great ideas for = Main Street Watertown, and I’d like to get her actively involved.

 

  2.   He has submitted two proposal= s.

 

  1.   One represents a party wishin= g to find a location for a dry cleaners, and the= other represents the Baille Company, who owns the property on Frost Bridge road.  The Bail= le Company attorney would like the EDC’s help in finding a suitable tenant for their property once their legal dispu= te with the town is resolved.

 

  1.   S= poke with John Morrison of the Litchfield Farmer’s market about the possibility of a portable cooking trailer, which could make the rounds= of area farmers markets to demonstrate different Chefs’ cooking techniques. He feels a trailer is necessary due to the requirements for food preparation by the state health department.
