ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR’S REPORT 12/= 20/08

  1. &n= bsp; Following discussions with Steve Sasala President of the Waterb= ury Regional Chamber it was decided that this position should merge nicely with the goals of the EDC and the further development of the Watertown/Oakville business community and the community in general.

 

  1.  

    1.   I also agreed to continue pro= viding speakers for their School to Career Program for at least 2008.  We also talked about consideri= ng starting a Junior Achievement Program at the high school.

    1. =   All their references had positive things to say about their wor= king relationships with Zenographics.  Met with Zenographics and Joe McGrail to work out details of ti= melines and expectations of the EDC, signed a contract and delivered a check f= or the first half of the project, per the agreed upon contract.

     

    2.   They recently so= ld a building at 32 Falls Avenue.  He also has a client who needs 30,000 sf of warehouse space with high ceilings.  I’m currently researching such availability in town.

     

    4.   A local service industry is interested in building as large a building as will be allowed for the = size of the lot, approximately 16,000sf.&n= bsp; More details as the project moves further along.

     

    1.  Jim Panczykowski, Regional Vice President of Binswanger commercial real estate indicated to me that he= had a meeting with Mark Fineman, the Corporate President of Drive-sol.  Panczykowski inquired about t= he status of the Watertown plant, and wa= s told that “all is well” with the Watertown operation, which he interpreted to mean no immediate changes in staffing.

     

    2.   and the regional Chamber.  Also brainstormed ideas for additional benefits to current and future members of the local and regional chambers.

     

    2.   Suggested seve= ral properties one of which they visited and talked with the landlord.
