 &= nbsp;          Maryann Stanisz, 24 Bushnell Avenue, Oakvill= e, CT&nbs= p; 06779

 

 &= nbsp;          Ms. Stanisz discussed installing a No Parking Sign near the Stop Sign on Bushnell Avenue because cars park there temporarily to wait for the school bus.  A discussion ensued.  Chief Carroll told Ms. Stanisz to = call the Police Department when the incident happens.

&= nbsp;           &nbs= p;           Mr. Stewart read aloud the following letter for the record:

 

&= nbsp;           &nbs= p;           "= ;Attention Police Commission:

 

&= nbsp;           &nbs= p;           There are two problems (in my estimation) which should have your attention.

 

            =             1= .         = Women waiting for the school bus in the afternoon on two streets off Sylvan Lake Road "Cedar Ridge Road" usually presents no problem.  = Women are a decent distance back from Sylvan Lake Road.&nb= sp; The problem is Cobb= Street.  Ladies and cars are right up to th= e end of Sylvan= Lake.  The danger?  Cars waiting to exit and enter at = the same time.  Exiting Cobb Street= the site line is blocked.  Trouble starts when car also wants to enter Cobb Street.  Waiting cars and ladies should be asked to park further back on Cobb Street= to leave the site line and turning room open.=   Why don't the kids walk?  There are no boo boo men in that area for that matter.  The ladies can also walk and get s= ome exercise.

 

            =             <= st1:Street w:st=3D"on">2.&nbs= p;        Traveling Davis Street off Main Street right after the school = fence is Jeffrey Place.  The problem is the street behind t= he wall carrying the railroad tracks.  Cars exiting cannot see Davis Street traffic; Davis Stre= et traffic cannot see exiting car from behind the wall.  Result many squealing brakes.  There should be some warning, mayb= e a flashing light or even stop signs.

 

=             &nb= sp;           Sorry I'm unable to attend the meeting since I cannot drive after sunset.  I hope these problems can be addre= ssed.

=             &nb= sp;           Ms. Kropp requested that in the future these types of letters be included in th= eir packet so they can research these problems before the meeting.  A brief discussion ensued regardin= g bus stops, and Ms. Pilicy suggested they put an article in the newspaper inform= ing people of the safety issues.  = Ms. Kropp suggested they send Ms. Petrauskas a let6ter informing her that the Commission would put an article in the newspaper to hopefully alleviate the problem.  Mr. LeBlanc felt they should investigate the issue to see if there really is a problem before put= ting an article in the newspaper.  = Mr. Stewart replied he felt a press release was warranted.  Mr. Durso will write the press rel= ease.

&= nbsp;           B.=          = Correspondence from Connecticut<= /st1:place> Freedom of Information

 

            &n= bsp;           Mr. Stewart reported he received this correspondence indicating that this Agency has been charged with an F.O.I. violation. There is a hearing on January 5 = 2007 with respect to same and he didn't think it was necessary to read the entire correspondence into the record, but he would give copies to everyone.  The complaint was regarding Minute= s not being done on time; it was filed by Robert LeBlanc, as a private citizen.  A brief discussion ensued.  Mr. Stewart stated he would not at= tend this Hearing unless the Town paid him for his time.  Mr. Durso stated he faxed the Moti= on Sheet to the Town Hall Annex in the appropriate timeframe.

            =             A discussion ensued regarding this project.&= nbsp; Mr. LeBlanc requested anything on the Agenda should have information= in the packet so the commissioners can review the items before the meeting.

 

            =             M= r. Stewart read aloud the following:

 

            =             &= quot;Attached is a draft of the special provisions and maintenance and protection plan for the Guernseytown Road Phase II Project between West Road and Farview Circle which is scheduled f= or construction in 2007.  Please = add the attached draft to your Agenda for your next Police Commission meeting f= or review and approval by your members."

 

            =             M= s. Kropp agreed with Mr. LeBlanc; if something needs to be approved, the commissioners should have had a map or some information before the meeting = for their review.  Mr. Stewart sug= gested in lieu of information, the applicants could come to the meeting and give an overview as well.
