The Town Council of the Town of Watertown will hold a Public Hearing at John Trumbull Primary School, 779 Buckingham Street, Oakville, Connecticut, on Thursday, October 16, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. to consider the following proposed ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $815,000 FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF WATERTOWN HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD FACILITIES, AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUE OF BONDS OR NOTES AND TEMPORARY NOTES TO FINANCE SUCH PORTION OF SAID APPROPRIATION AS IS NOT DEFRAYED FROM GRANTS.

2. = Public Participation

&= nbsp; Ms. Legge: I’m the Athl= etic Director at Watertown High School. What we have the grant for and what we are proposing is a new track = to replace the track that’s there at the High School now. (Inaudible) in doing so we would h= ave to move the bleachers and move two lights in order to put in an 8 lane track.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> This will also (inaudible) in orde= r to ensure that we don’t have the same problems we’ve had over the years. There is no (inaudible) football field with the track and part of it (inaudible). In the past we have tried to (inau= dible) as possible and as a result we’ve had more problems (inaudible) to ha= ve our field enlarged so other sports can use the field as well and play under= the lights.

&n= bsp;

&= nbsp; Ms. King: I have a question a= bout the ledge. I believe the Publ= ic Buildings Committee came to our meeting and talked about doing test borings regarding the ledge. Within t= he funding that we have is there money to fix that? That wasn’t clear to me.

&n= bsp;

&= nbsp; Ms. Legge: The borings for the ledge is to see how it would affect the track. Anything that causes cracking woul= d have to be take care of. I assume (inaudible).

&n= bsp;

&= nbsp; Ms. Robson: The money for the borings themselves is in the bond amount, and there is a contingency in the project amount for anything. = If it’s a huge problem, there probably will not be enough money in the b= ond ordinance right now.

&n= bsp;

&= nbsp; Ms. King: Would that mean we = would do something different?

&n= bsp;

&= nbsp; Ms. Robson: Different or come= back for additional funding, but I don’t think they expect it to be an iss= ue, but no one (inaudible).

&n= bsp;

&= nbsp; Ms. King: It wasn’t cle= ar to me that part of this was dealing with that problem.

&n= bsp;

&= nbsp; Ms. Robson: The test borings themselves (inaudible).

&n= bsp;

&= nbsp; Ms. King: (Inaudible).

&n= bsp;

&= nbsp; Ms. Legge: I think the draina= ge is the other part of that. There= is ledge under there but the water causes a lot of problems.
