The main objective of the Assessor’s Office is to Discover, List, and Value Real Estate, Personal Property, and Motor Vehicles for the Town’s Grand List.
The Grand List Year is October 1- September 30
The office performs Real Estate Inspections pursuant of open & closed permits as well as observing the properties' overall condition.
The Personal Property is for all businesses and the declarations are due in the office by November 1 each year. Audits are performed at random to ensure the property is assessed accurately.
Motor Vehicle lists are provided twice a year to the office and data is from the CT DMV which uses the Nada Book for valuing the vehicles.
